How it works?

Many eye problems originate from the abnormal shape of the eye (cornea). Ortho-k is a process of reshaping eyes (cornea) for better vision. The shape of the cornea determines the clarity of vision. The description of the process is as follows:

The patient needs to wear special contact lenses during sleep (night) to mold the shape of cornea towards normal.
The patient will begin to achieve corrected vision during day after two weeks of wearing lenses during sleep.
To maintain improved vision, the patient needs to continue the process to maintain the shape of the cornea.

The doctor will recommend ortho-K after a comprehensive eye exam. Ortho-k can especially benefit children with nearsightedness. Refractive eye surgery isn’t a best option for due to the growth and development of the children’s eye. In addition, ortho-k may help prevent glaucoma, cataracts, or retinal detachment, which is more commonly seen in those with severe myopia.
